Job description

Overview

The Medical Assistant (MA) delivers direct patient care in the clinical setting, starting with escorting the patient to the examination room, performing treatments and procedures as required by the physician, and concluding with discharging the patient. The MA recognizes, reports, and documents clinical observations and is responsible for coding procedures correctly.

Qualifications

Education required: High School Diploma or GED

License, Certification and/or registration: Current CPR Certification. Current Medical Assistant Certification (CCMA) preferred.

Additional Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Ability to perform effectively in emergency and stressful situations.
  • Ability to read, understand, and respond to detailed oral and written instructions.
  • Clear communication skills.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff, physicians, supervisors, and the public.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Knowledge of the organization’s policies and procedures.
  • Upholds effective work habits, including regular attendance, teamwork, initiative, dependability, and promptness.
