Base pay range

$27.00/hr - $40.00/hr

SIGNING BONUS: Master's or Associate Licensed $3000 or Fully Licensed $5000

Role Overview:

As a school-based counselor, you will have the opportunity to support youth and contribute to their success. You will be a part of a team that is dedicated to reducing barriers and meeting youth where they are at, utilizing creative therapeutic approaches. This is a year around position with the potential for fun summer activities. This position also provides an opportunity to receive state supervision hours.

The Federal Way Clinic is seeking a dynamic team member to join our clinical team to help work with children and youth both in the office and in the local schools. We are expanding our ability to provide therapeutic and case management services to students in need throughout the City of Federal Way and are looking for a team member who has experience working with children, youth, their families, and school providers. Applicants would be part of an interdisciplinary team based in our Federal Way Clinic and see clients both in the office and in schools. Applicants would be expected to communicate with their clients, families and school officials about ongoing treatment and work collaboratively to ensure that client needs were being addressed. Valley Cities incorporates a variety of Evidenced Based Practices in our care and value experienced staff that can provide these services to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Orients and educates clients and their families by meeting them in and out of the office and school.
  • Working collaborating on the recovery plan with the client and family.
  • Providing educational information in conjunction with other members of the treatment team and collaborative partners within the schools.
  • Provides Crisis Management Services.
  • Performs intakes as needed with MHP credentials


What We're Looking For:

  • MA/MS degree in the Behavioral Sciences Field
  • Registration with the State of Washington and eligible for Licensure, if not already Licensed LMFT(A), LMHC(A), LICSW(A)
  • Experience providing services in a school setting and working with children and families
  • In depth knowledge of human growth and development, individual and group behavior, emotion dysfunction including sexual, physical, and emotional abuse, and principles and techniques for intervention including diagnostic, clinical, case management, and other necessary therapeutic skills
  • Pass required background checks
