Job Details: Level: Experienced | Location: Hawthorne, CA 90250 | Position Type: Part Time | Salary Range: $28.00 – $55.68 per hour | Shift: Day | Title(s): Clinician I/II (Unlicensed or Licensed).

Responsibilities

• Perform culturally competent comprehensive assessments, identify appropriate diagnoses, and develop treatment plans within the required time frame.
• Provide guidance, consultation, and approval of assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, and progress notes.
• Maintain detailed client record documentation, progress notes, and treatment reviews.
• Participate as a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team, providing clinical input on client diagnosis and recommended treatment plans; consult staff to review client cases and medication issues.
• Demonstrate knowledge and competency in substance‑abuse and co‑occurring disorder treatment; be sensitive and responsive to cultural differences among the agency’s client population.
• May carry a caseload and conduct individual and group sessions, including family education groups.
• Regularly meet and maintain the agency’s expected productivity goal.
• Make and monitor appropriate referrals when necessary.
• Support the orientation and training of staff and interns.
• Actively participate in continuous quality improvement efforts and peer review functions.
• Consult with and serve as a liaison with community agencies, school personnel, parents, and other programs; evaluate community health needs and services; advocate and educate on client needs.
• Make presentations to community groups and other external audiences.
• For Clinician II: Complete all intake documentation, including required LA County DMH forms; conduct individual and group psychotherapy; prepare intake and discharge summaries; provide transportation for clients as required.

Competencies and Performance Expectations

• Assess and re‑assess client status, make accurate diagnoses, and develop appropriate treatment plans.
• Analyze crisis situations promptly and facilitate appropriate treatment and referrals.
• Present client history and behavioral impressions for further review.
• Prepare detailed case summaries and documentation; maintain accurate client records in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Provide education, consultation, and in‑service training for staff.
• Protect clients’ rights and provide advocacy for all clients.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other therapists, county staff, referral agencies, physicians, and the public.
• Utilize the current Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for performing diagnoses.
• Regularly meet agency productivity goals and enter client notes within the required timeframe.

Prerequisite Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a related field, MFT, or MSW (licensed or waivered). BBS registered.
• Valid California driver’s license and liability insurance for business use of a personal vehicle.
• Current registration to practice as an Associate Clinical Social Worker (ACASWS), Marriage, Family, and Child Intern (MFTI) in California, or licensed Clinical Social Worker, Marriage, Family, and Child Counselor, or Licensed Clinical Psychologist.
• At least 2 years’ experience providing clinician services (for Clinician II).
• Knowledge of community behavioral treatment principles, including interviewing, assessment, and individual, family, and group counseling.
• Knowledge of general psychiatric emergency intervention, diagnosis, and brief and long‑term therapy methods.
• Knowledge of adult and child psychology principles.
• Knowledge of laws and regulations related to Title 22, 42CFR, clients’ rights, and voluntary or involuntary treatment and commitment for treatment.
• Knowledge of community resources and agencies that provide support services for the mentally ill and/or persons with co‑occurring disorders.
• Knowledge of medical record‑keeping and documentation, including client charting.
• Knowledge of Medi-Cal regulations and documentation for medical necessity.
• First Aid certification obtained within 90 days of employment and maintained thereafter.
• CPR certification obtained within 90 days of employment and maintained thereafter.
• Development of computer skills adequate to perform job duties within 90 days of employment.
• Bilingual abilities may be required in certain programs.
• Vision, hearing, manual dexterity, and eye‑hand coordination adequate for performance of job duties; ability to sit at a desk, use a keyboard, write, and physically perform other job duties; ability to move about the facility to observe clients and staff.
