Role Overview: Provides counseling services to clients with substance abuse and mental health issues. Conducts diagnostic evaluations, writes behavioral treatment plans, provides individual counseling, and writes aftercare plans in accordance with department standards. Participates in counseling and patient care as a member of a multidisciplinary team.

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct eligibility screenings and comprehensive intake assessments to assess eligibility, gather clinical information, and inform treatment planning.
  2. Conduct client evaluations including bio-psychosocial assessment, diagnostic formulation, and initial treatment plan recommendations.
  3. Meet with clients to provide individual counseling and assist in attaining treatment goals.
  4. Write treatment plans highlighting client’s strengths with behaviorally based goals and objectives. Document service delivery and progress in notes. Refer clients to resources within and outside CHL.
  5. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case discussions. Recognize when to seek consultation. Develop a training plan for professional growth.
  6. Participate in utilization management, employ CARF standards, and assist in re-accreditation processes.
  7. Build relationships with agencies and organizations to support clients’ recovery, facilitate referrals, and coordinate care.
  8. Work closely with MMAT clinical team (Recovery Coach, Nurse, Psychiatrist) to coordinate client services.

Position Qualifications:

License/Certification/Education:

  • Master’s degree in behavioral health (social work, psychology, marriage and family therapy, counseling, or related field) meeting academic requirements for independent licensure in Massachusetts.
  • Actively working towards independent licensure in Massachusetts.
  • Driving is not required.

Preferred: Bilingual skills are a plus.

Experience/Skills:

  • Ability to perform diagnostic and risk assessments using accepted tools and practices.
  • Ability to develop and implement behavioral treatment plans.
  • Interest in learning evidence-based models of treatment for opioid addiction.

Preferred Experience: Minimum of one year in behavioral health or addiction; clinical expertise with adults with substance use and mental health conditions.

Physical Demands and Environment: Sedentary work, primarily indoors in patient care and office environments.
