Job summary

St. Mary's General Hospital in Passaic, NJ, seeks a licensed counselor to join the Intensive Outpatient Treatment Supportive Services program and inpatient units as needed.

The role includes comprehensive assessments, individual and group therapy, discharge planning, and referrals to support clients with substance-related issues. Candidates should hold an MA in counseling, possess a New Jersey LCADC license, and have at least two years of clinical experience.

Qualifications

  • MA Degree in counseling or related field.
  • LCADC License recognized in New Jersey.
  • Minimum of two years of clinical experience in psychiatric, chemical dependency or residential treatment facility preferred.
  • Experience counseling chemically dependent adults and family members.
  • Knowledge of the 12-Step Program.
  • CPR/First Aid within 6 months of hire and maintained.
  • Behavioral Violence Prevention within 6 months of hire and maintained.
  • Bilingual is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provides substance abuse assessment, diagnosis, individual and group therapy.
  • Conducts discharge planning and referrals.
  • Liaises with treatment team members and participates in treatment planning.
  • Documents all client contacts and education provided to client and family.

Responsibilities

Participates part time in the Intensive Outpatient Treatment Supportive Services Program (IOTSS) and part time Inpatient at the hospital on units where a client is presenting with a potential substance related issue. Will provide clients with substance abuse a comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, individual, and group therapy, discharge planning, referrals, liaison with members of the treatment team, treatment planning, documentation of all client contacts and education and support to the client and family members.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

  • MA Degree in counseling or a related field along with specific course hours in alcohol and drug counseling, supervised experience, and passed written and oral examinations.
  • LCADC License recognized in the state of New Jersey.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience in psychiatric, chemical dependency or residential treatment facility preferred.
  • Experience in counseling chemically dependent adults and their family members and/or significant others.
  • Working knowledge of the 12-Step Program.
  • CPR/First Aid within 6 months of hire and maintained.
  • Behavioral Violence Prevention within 6 months of hire and maintain current annually.
  • Bilingual is a plus

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $29.11 to $36.39. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
