Job summary

Waco Family Medicine in Waco, TX is seeking a Wellness Center Specialist to support growth and delivery of its Wellness Center programming. You will provide individualized exercise programming for patients referred by clinicians, monitor safety, and document progress in EMR.

The role also coordinates daily operations, contributes to Shared Medical Appointments, mentors interns, and collaborates with care teams to promote patient wellness and community health.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a closely related field required.
• Experience working in a clinical, community health, fitness, or wellness setting preferred; experience with chronic disease is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily Wellness Center operations, including patient scheduling, enrollment, communication, and workflow support.
• Conduct patient orientations, fitness assessments, and individualized exercise programming based on patient goals, medical history, and clinician referrals.
• Develop and modify exercise prescriptions using evidence-based guidelines for individuals with chronic conditions and varying abilities.
• Provide supervised exercise sessions while monitoring safety, response, and progression toward goals.
• Document patient information, vital signs, and progress in EMR and tracking systems.
• Support Shared Medical Appointment programming and provide coverage when needed.
• Assist with program development, employee wellness initiatives, group exercises, and community health activities.
• Mentor graduate Fitness Advisors, interns, and volunteers; collaborate with clinicians and partners.
