Acts as liaison between the supply chain and the clinical part of the enterprise, serving as an advocate for supply chain with clinicians and representing the clinical perspective within supply chain.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Applies clinical knowledge to established value analysis processes, identifies opportunities for improvement, and makes recommendations to improve financial, clinical, and service outcomes. Develops project, communication, and implementation plans, and monitors adherence to the plans.
  • Maintains current knowledge of clinical practice, products, and equipment across the enterprise. Supports or leads clinical equipment and product selection, standardization, utilization, and quality initiatives.
  • Uses knowledge of clinical practice, current practice, and marketplace to identify opportunities to reduce cost while sustaining or improving patient outcomes and staff satisfaction. Provides instruction to clinicians in product and equipment value analysis, procurement, inventory management, and distribution process.
  • Identifies data needs, maintains data systems as needed, and analyzes data related to product and equipment issues, utilization, and costs. Summarizes outcomes, reports issues, initiates and conducts product utilization reviews, and seeks consensus and approval in accordance with established procedures.
  • Serves as a resource and consultant to materials and clinical staff regarding products and equipment. Collaborates with vendors, Supply Chain, Biomedical Engineering, and assigned areas to evaluate resources needed, impact on clinical policies and procedures, communication, and educational needs, and purchasing and logistics needs.
  • Assists operations management with development and maintenance of standard operating procedures for products and equipment. Develops and facilitates staff education related to clinical product and equipment knowledge and manufacturers’ instructions for use.
  • Assists procurement staff with alternate sourcing when issues with products and/or equipment availability arise.

Education Requirement

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, required.
  • Master’s Degree, preferred.

Licensure Requirement

Current RN license in the state of Ohio, required.

Certifications

Certified Value Analysis Healthcare Professional (CVAHP), preferred.

Skills

  • Independent work initiative, sound judgment, problem-solving skills, diplomacy, and professional demeanor.
  • Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills including the ability to give presentations to physicians, clinicians, and administrators.
  • Capable of relating to diverse age and demographic backgrounds.

Experience

  • Five years of experience in a clinical/progressively more responsible role in a diverse and complex health care environment, required.
  • Experience with data collection, analysis, and reporting, required.
  • Two years of supply chain experience, preferred.
