Tulane University is seeking a Staff Therapist within the Counseling Center to provide student mental health services, including urgent walk‑in assessments, individual psychotherapy, group therapy and workshops, and to help design outreach programs for campus communities.

Minimum qualifications include a Master of Social Work with LMSW/LCSW or a Master’s in Counseling with LPC and one year of clinical experience; preferred candidates have three years of psychotherapy experience and demonstrated

Responsibilities

  • Provide student mental health services including urgent walk-in assessments and psychotherapy.

  • Develop and deliver outreach programs and educational materials for campus communities.
  • Participate in coordinating services and liaising with campus departments as assigned by Counseling Center leadership.
  • Contribute to data collection, program coordination, and staff meetings/trainings.

Job Description

The Staff Therapist is part of the Tulane University Campus Health team of committed professionals dedicated to supporting and promoting student health and wellbeing as a core institutional value through a multidisciplinary, comprehensive approach. This position resides within the Counseling Center, and reports to Assistant Director. This position is responsible for delivering clinical services and participating in outreach activities. As a member of the Counseling Center, the Staff Therapist provides student mental health services, including urgent walk-in assessments, consultations, individual psychotherapy, group therapy and workshops. This position also participates in designing and delivering outreach programs to students, as well as developing materials and presentations on topics pertinent to various University constituencies. The Staff Therapist is responsible for a specified area of coordination or advocacy or serve as a liaison to departments or groups on campus as assigned by the Counseling Center leadership. Activities such as data collection and analysis, as well as program coordination, may also be pursued at times. This position participates regularly in Campus Health, therapist team, and Counseling Center staff meetings and trainings.

Minimum Qualification


  • Master of Social Work Degree with current LMSW or LCSW license.

  • 1 year of clinical experience.


OR



  • Master’s Degree in Counseling with current LPC license .

  • 1 year of clinical experience.


Preferred Qualification


  • 3 years of psychotherapy experience.

  • Training and interest in working with multicultural issues and students with diverse identities.

  • Experience delivering group interventions.

  • Experience working with university students in a college counseling setting.

  • Training and experience working with substance abuse issues.
