Job summary

Tulane University Campus Health seeks an AOD Therapist to work within the AIRS team, providing screenings, assessments, and short-term therapy to students. The role includes group therapy, psychoeducational groups, referrals, and helping determine level of care for treatment services.

The ideal candidate has strong addiction treatment experience and licensure eligibility in Louisiana, with preferred credentials (LCSW, LAC, LPC, PhD, PsyD) and university counseling center exposure.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in social work, psychology, or counseling.
  • License eligible as addictions professional, social worker, psychologist, or counselor in Louisiana; licensure within 6 months of start date if not licensed.
  • Preferred: LCSW, LAC, LPC, PhD or PsyD in psychology; prior university counseling center experience; experience delivering group interventions; specialized training in Substance Use Disorder treatment and policy; experience with sexual violence policy and treatment; 3 years of SUD treatment experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide screenings, assessments, and individual short-term therapy for students.
  • Deliver group therapy and psychoeducational groups.
  • Provide referrals and assist in determining the appropriate level of care for treatment services.
  • Collaborate with the AIRS team and Tulane Counseling Center.

Education

Master’s degree in social work, psychology, or counseling
Addictions credential considerations/experience
Knowledge of university counseling center operations
Experience delivering group interventions for SUD policies
Experience with sexual violence policy and treatment
3 years of Substance Use Disorder treatment experience

Job description

The AOD Therapist works collaboratively in the Counseling Center and is a member of the multi-disciplinary AIRS team (Assessment, Intervention, and Recovery Services)within Campus Health. The clinician will be expected to provide screenings, assessments, individual short term- therapy, group therapy, psychoeducational groups, referrals, and assist in determining the appropriate level of care for treatment services.

A strong background and experience working in Addiction Treatment and with individuals who meet the criteria for a substance use disorder is needed. An ideal candidate that possesses addictions credential (LAC, CAC, or equivalent) is desired. A candidate that is knowledgeable of current trending issues on college campus’ is also preferred.

Responsibilities
Qualifications

Minimum Qualification:
Master’s degree in social work, psychology, or counseling.
License eligible as addictions professional, social worker, psychologist, or counselor in Louisiana, if not already licensed in that state. Must be licensed in LA within 6 months of initial start date, if not already licensed.

Preferred Qualification:
LCSW, LAC, LPC, PhD or PsyD in psychology
Prior experience providing services in a university counseling center
Previous experience delivering group interventions in a university counseling center
Specialized training in Substance Use Disorder treatment and policy
Experience in working with sexual violence policy and treatment
3 years of experience in Substance Use Disorder treatment
