The Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as Clinical Testing General Supervisor.
The Clinical Testing General Supervisor will be a core member of our new CLIA laboratory. You will be responsible for hands-on testing, day -to-day supervision and oversight of the laboratory operation and personnel training.This role involves supervising personnel, managing workflow, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support clinical trials and testing. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience in next generation sequencing (NGS) in a clinical environment, strong leadership skills, and a deep understanding of laboratory best practices. The successful candidate will be able to assist in maintaining a quality assurance program and ensure that testing is conducted accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with all applicable regulatory standards, including CLIA, CAP, and state licensure requirements.

Primary duties and responsibilities:
The General Supervisor includes but not limited to the following:
Laboratory Testing:
-Perform hands-on specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
-Adhere to the laboratory’s quality control policies, document all quality control activities.
-Be capable of identifying and troubleshooting laboratory workflows and instrumentation.
-Use the Laboratory Information System (LIS) to ensure accurate data entry, result reporting, and documentation.
-Assist with assay validation, documentation, and implementation of new NGS technologies or workflows.
Laboratory General Supervision:
-Supervise and coordinate daily activities within the CLIA lab, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
-Monitor and evaluate testing personnel performance, including training, competency assessment, and ongoing education.
-Implement the maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of equipment.
-Review and authorize test results, quality control records, and maintenance logs.
-Maintain documentation for audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews.
-Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and laboratory best practices.
-Contribute to the continuous improvement of lab workflows, quality systems, and data integrity.
Qualifications
-Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in biologic sciences, medical laboratory science, clinical laboratory science, or related field. ASCP certification (e.g., MB(ASCP)) preferred.
-Minimum 5 years of hands-on laboratory experience.
-At least 4 years of experience in high complexity testing in a clinical laboratory for candidates with a bachelor's degree, or 3 years for those with a master's degree.
-Prior supervisory or lead experience in a laboratory environment highly desired.
-Availability to work a staggered shift from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday, is strongly preferred.
-Expertise in basic molecular biology techniques as well as nucleic acid extraction and quality control techniques.
-Proficiency with NGS assays, with experience in ctDNA and other cancer-focused assays preferred.
-Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain accurate and detailed records.
-Are highly motivated with excellent oral and written communication skills.
-Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team in a collaborative and fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities.
