Job summary

Labcorp in Saint Paul, MN is seeking a Technologist Trainee to join our team. The role involves night shifts (Wed–Sat, 9pm–7:30am) and full training for new grads.

Responsibilities include specimen testing, equipment maintenance, and reporting results to support patient care, with emphasis on accuracy and safety. Minimum qualifications include a science degree and lab experience; ASCP/AMT certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a chemical/biological science or clinical laboratory science required.
• ASCP or AMT certification preferred.
• 3 months or more of clinical laboratory testing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to SOPs.
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate PPE.

Job Responsibilities

• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology
• Preferred Qualification:
• Current or prior Labcorp experience
• 3 months or more of clinical laboratory testing experience
• ASCP or AMT certification

Additional Job Standards

• Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

Pay Range: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour plus shift differential

All job offers will be based on a candidate's skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.
