Job summary

Eversight is seeking a Clinical Technician, Tissue Recovery in Clark, NJ to perform tissue recovery and related lab duties for eye/tissue donations. You will handle tissue receipt, packaging and shipping while adhering to medical standards and regulations.

The role requires precision, documentation, and teamwork in a lab and hospital environment. The position offers full-time hours with mid-shift and night shifts, travel to procurement sites, and opportunities to grow within a mission-driven

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate studies in biological science, human sciences or a related field strongly preferred.
  • Must be comfortable working with cadavers and able to follow complex procedures.
  • Proficiency in aseptic technique and medical terminology is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs tissue recovery procedures and related laboratory tasks according to standards.
  • Documents cases, checks in tissue, reviews hospital charts and coordinates shipping.
  • Communicates with internal/external teams about logistics and case status.
  • Maintains sterile lab environment and handles tissue labeling and serology orders as needed.
  • Provides weekend/night/on-call coverage as required.

Salary Range: $22.00 To $24.00 Hourly

Summary

A Clinical Technician, Tissue Recovery is responsible for laboratory and technical related aspects of eye/tissue donations, including, tissue recovery, tissue receipt, tissue packaging and shipping. Performs recovery procedures, laboratory duties and other assignments as required, in compliance with Eversight and EBAA Medical Standards and with state and federal regulations.

Schedule: Mid-shift and Night shift available

Essential Job Functions
  • Performs technical procedures as trained, including tissue recovery such as situ human eye enucleations, corneal excisions, or other ocular tissue recoveries. Make appropriate procurement determinations based on donor, medical and body inspection information.
  • Performs clinical duties including proper case documentation, tissue check-in, hospital chart reviews, consults with hospital and other organizations associated with case, data entry, filing, packaging and shipping tissue.
  • Effectively communicates with internal and external departments regarding logistics, case statuses and shipping arrangements.
  • Performs clinical functions for additional departments as needed.
  • Must be comfortable working with cadavers.
  • Maintains laboratory including keeping a sterile environment and ordering supplies.
  • Completes accurate Midwire check-in, tissue labeling and serology ordering as needed.
  • Observes strict confidentiality of donor and recipient information at all times.
  • Performs weekend, holiday, night and on-call coverage as scheduled.
  • Travel may include cases up to or above 2.5/3 hours away from Eversight locations.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional organizations, etc.

Qualifications

Education: Undergraduate studies in biological science, human sciences or a related field strongly preferred.

Skills: Preferred experience with Aseptic technique and medical terminology preferred. Must be comfortable working with cadavers. Ability to interact effectively with all staff within and outside of the organization. Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with peers while fostering a positive work environment. Demonstrated customer service skills and sense of urgency.

Knowledge: Proficiency in technical procedures after appropriate training as needed. Valid driver’s license is required.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

Work is performed in a laboratory setting or a patient care setting, such as a hospital operating room or morgue, with potential exposure to communicable diseases or hazardous materials. Travel to procurement sites is required. Turning of a donor of up to 400 pounds, pushing a stretcher/morgue cart with a body of up to that weight and/or lifting of up to 50 pounds may be required. The majority of time is spent standing and walking as well as lifting. Simultaneous use of both hands is required. Movements such as balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, twisting, and bending are sometimes required. Audio, visual and verbal functions are vital aspects of this position. Limited noise, room temperature fluctuation and dust are possible. Routine use of computer. Use of personal vehicle is required when traveling within the service area.
