Job summary

Eversight is seeking a Clinical Technician, Tissue Processing in Ann Arbor, MI. The role covers all aspects of processing eye tissue and related lab duties in compliance with standards and regulations.

Schedule: 8:00am-6:30pm, 4 days per week with holiday and weekend rotation. Travel to procurement sites and on-call coverage may be required. The candidate will stay current with professional knowledge and safety protocols.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate studies in related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in a clinical setting is required.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to plan and execute complex tasks; interact professionally with peers.

Responsibilities

  • Process tissue such as slit lamp bio-microscopy, specular microscopy, OCT, microkeratome processing and DMEK processing.
  • Perform cell counting and evaluation of processed tissue.
  • Prepare packaging and coordinate transportation of tissue.
  • Clean and maintain instruments, autoclave and processing rooms.
  • Manage tissue and supply inventories and rotate stock.

Summary

Eversight's Clinical Technician, Tissue Processing is responsible for all aspects of processing eye tissue and laboratory duties and assignments as required in compliance with Eversight and EBAA Medical Standards and with state and federal regulations.

Essential Job Functions

  • Process tissue to include, but is not limited to: slit lamp bio-microscopy, specular microscopy, OCT, microkeratome processing and DMEK processing, rinses, trims, tissue transfers, scleral preservation and splitting tissue.
  • Performs cell counting and evaluation of processed tissue.
  • Prepares the packaging and coordinates the transportation of tissue.
  • Performs cleaning and routine maintenance on surgical instruments, autoclave and processing rooms.
  • Performs tissue inventory, supply inventory and rotation of older supplies.
  • Assists with general laboratory duties as needed.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional organizations, etc.
  • Night and weekend coverage and on-call as scheduled.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to the Mission and Values of Eversight.

Qualifications

Education:Undergraduate studies in related field preferred.

Experience: Previous experience in a clinical setting is required.

Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to effectively plan and execute complex tasks. Ability to interact professionally with peers.

Knowledge:Proficiency in slit lamp and specular microscopy evaluation of tissue and use of other laboratory equipment after appropriate training.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

Work is performed in a laboratory setting, such as a hospital operating room or morgue, with potential exposure to communicable disease or hazardous materials. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, bend, stoop, twist, lift and stand. Limited noise, room temperature fluctuations and dust are possible. Routine use of a computer. Travel to procurement sites is required. Use of personal vehicle is required when traveling within the service area.
