The G20/H22 Neurological Intensive Care provides world-class care to complex neurological medical and surgical patients. The unit is certified as part of the Comprehensive Stroke Center within Cleveland Clinic's nationally renowned Neurological Institute. The patient population includes young adults through geriatrics with diagnoses of conditions such as: ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, subdural hematomas, status epilepticus/seizures, brain tumors, neuromuscular disorders and spinal injuries. As a Clinical Technician on this team, you will assist with basic patient care, maintain room cleanliness and demonstrate empathy and compassion in all activities and interactions.
**A caregiver in this role works rotating day/night shifts from 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m. with weekend and holiday requirements.**
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
+ Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN, such as taking vital signs and weight, assisting patients with personal care, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and inserting/removing urinary Foley Catheters.
+ Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.
+ Assist with keeping patients' rooms clean and orderly.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ High School Diploma/GED
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) upon or within new hire period
+ One year of recent, full-time patient care experience OR nursing student with at least one completed clinical rotation as part of an accredited Nursing School Program OR military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) OR additional education/training (e.g., mental health)
+ Proficiency in applied mathematics and reading comprehension at an 8th grade level

**Physical Requirements:**
+ Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
+ Medium Work - Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force rarely, and/or 0 to 50 pounds of force occasionally to move objects.
+ Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.
**Personal Protective Equipment:**
+ Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
