Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Health System is seeking a Clinical Technician for the ICU at Marymount Hospital in Garfield Heights. This regular PRN position supports caring for acute ICU patients during day/evening rotations, including 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m., with weekend and holiday requirements.

You will assist with vital signs, patient care, room upkeep, and report any changes to RNs, contributing to a compassionate, high-quality care environment and the hospital’s mission.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification from American Heart Association.
• One year of recent, full-time patient care experience preferred.
• Nursing students with clinical rotation may substitute for experience.

Marymount Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) consists of 28 beds in two connected 14-bed pods and was designed for high acuity patients who need critical care and are being treated for serious medical conditions. Some of the most common procedures in this unit include bronchoscopy, endoscopy, emergent intubation, central line placement, continuous renal replacement therapy, pronation, and therapeutic hypothermia. As a Clinical Technician, you will assist with basic patient care, maintain room cleanliness and demonstrate empathy and compassion in all activities and interactions. Your work plays a direct role in our mission to continuously provide patients with the best healthcare experience possible.

This is a regular PRN position, with caregiver working a day/evening rotation between 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. with weekend and holiday requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN, such as taking vital signs and weight, assisting patients with personal care, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley Catheters.

• Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.

• Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• High School Diploma/GED

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) within new hire period (Nursing Student req to have prior to hire)

• One year of recent, full-time patient care experience

• Additional education/training may substitute for some/all the stated experience

• Nursing students who have recently completed a minimum of one clinical rotation as part of an accredited nursing school program may substitute the clinical rotation for the required experience

• Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
• Medium Work - Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force rarely, and/or 0 to 50 pounds of force occasionally to move objects.
• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
