Cleveland Clinic Health System in Cleveland is seeking a Clinical Technician for the Surgical Short Stay unit to support post-operative care and monitoring. The role involves assisting with patient care under supervision, documentation, and contributing to efficient patient throughput.

The candidate will work evenings (3:00pm–11:30pm) on a 3:00pm-11:30pm shift, with every other Saturday. A starting point is a strong background in patient care and valid BLS certification.

Qualifications

Cleveland Clinic's M81 Surgical Short Stay Unit cares for patients in need of extended recovery or observation following surgeries or procedures. This unit captures a wide variety of specialties, including endocrinology, urology, radiology, general surgery, plastics, colorectal, neurology, orthopaedic, and ophthalmology. M81 caregivers pride themselves on delivering efficient and effective workflow processes to ensure patient discharges are expedited and care is of the highest quality. Because of the variety and complexity of patients cared for, M81 offers caregivers an array of growth and learning opportunities. This unit also has an active unit-based Shared Governance and high caregiver engagement.

A caregiver in this position works 3PM-11:30PM. Every other Saturday.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN. Patient care may include vital signs, weight, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheter.
• Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.
• Assist with keeping patients' rooms clean and orderly.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within new hire period (Nursing students required to have BLS prior to hire)
• One year of recent, full-time patient care experience
• Additional education/training may substitute for some/all of the stated experience (i.e. mental health experience)
• Nursing students who have recently completed a minimum of one clinical rotation as part of an accredited nursing school program may substitute the clinical rotation for the required experience
• Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered

Physical Requirements:

Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.

Medium Work - Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force rarely, and/or 0 to 50 pounds of force occasionally to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
