Job summary

The Cleveland Clinic Main Campus Emergency Department offers a fast-paced setting where care teams deliver world-class patient care around the clock. As a Clinical Technician, you will support RN colleagues with basic patient care, vital signs, and transfers while helping maintain patient comfort and safety.

Shifts run days from 7:00 am to 7:30 pm with every other weekend and holiday rotation. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and BLS certification; healthcare

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• BLS Certification through AHA or Red Cross before hire.
• One year of recent, full-time patient care experience.
• Nursing students may substitute clinical rotations for required experience.
• Military medical experience considered (HM/68W/4N0X1).
• Proficiency in mathematics and reading comprehension at 8th grade level.

Responsibilities

• Provide or assist with patient care under RN supervision (vital signs, transfers, etc.).
• Report abnormal findings to an RN.
• Keep patient rooms clean and orderly.
• Perform phlebotomy, 12-lead ECGs, and urinary catheter removal.

The Main Campus Emergency Department provides top-quality care to patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week. As Clinical Technician, you will play a direct role in our mission to continuously provide patients with the best healthcare experience possible.

A caregiver in this position works days 7:00 am. - 7:30 pm. with every other weekend and holiday rotation requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN, such as taking vital signs and weight, assisting patients with personal care, point of care testing, dressing changes, patient transfers/transport, applying external monitoring devices, further technical skills of phlebotomy, 12-lead ECG’s and removing urinary Foley Catheters.
• Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.
• Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross before within new hire period (Nursing Students required to have BLS prior to hire)
• One year of recent, full-time patient care experience Additional education/training may substitute for some/all of the stated experience (i.e. mental health experience)
• Nursing students who have recently completed a minimum of one clinical rotation as part of an accredited nursing school program may substitute the clinical rotation for the required experience
• Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered
• Demonstrates proficiency in applied mathematics & reading comprehension at an 8th grade level

Physical Requirements

• Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
• Medium Work - Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force rarely, and/or 0 to 50 pounds of force occasionally to move objects.
• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.

Personal Protective Equipment

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $19.25

Maximum hourly: $25.95
