Clinical Techician - Cardiovascular Recovery Unit at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus is a full-time day-shift role in J3-3 Cardiac Short Stay Unit. J33 is a fast-paced, 28-bed cardiovascular recovery unit consistingof the Cardiovascular Short Stay Unit and the Post AnesthesiaCare Unit/Cardiac Accelerated Recovery Unit. The unit’s highpatient turnover provides nurses with broad experience caring fordiverse and higher-acuity patient populations, including ICU-levelpatients.

• In the Cardiovascular Short Stay Unit , patients recover fromconscious sedation procedures such as cardiac catheterizationsand electrophysiology interventions, typically requiring less than a23-hour stay with telemetry monitoring as needed. The unit alsoprepares patients for kidney, liver, heart, and lung transplants.

• In the Post Anesthesia Care Unit/Cardiac AcceleratedRecovery Unit , patients recover from general anesthesia followingcardiac, thoracic, vascular, and electrophysiology procedures.

You get a combination of ambulatory (outpatient) and inpatients.

A caregiver in this position works days, 9:00am—9:30pm. Every 6th Saturday.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN. Patient care may include vital signs, weight, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheter.

• Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.

• Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• High School Diploma or GED

• Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Crossrequired within new hire period

• Nursing students required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross prior to hire

• One year of recent, full-time patient care experience

• *Additional education/training may substitute for some/all the stated experience (i.e. mental health experience)

• Nursing students who have recently completed a minimum of one clinical rotation as part of an accredited nursing school program may substitute the clinical rotation for the required experience

• Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
• Medium Work - Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force rarely, and/or 0 to 50 pounds of force occasionally to move objects.
• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
