Job summary

About Duke Regional Hospital

Duke Regional Hospital is the second largest of Duke Health's three hospitals and offers a comprehensive range of medical, surgical, and diagnostic services, including orthopedics, weight-loss surgery, women's services, and heart and vascular services.

Work Week: MRI will need flexibility for all three shifts including weekends. Monday-Friday 7am-3pm, Saturdays & Sundays 7am-7pm.

General Description of the Job Class

Perform a variety of duties to assist the technical staff in department operations.

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level

Level I:

  • Provide technical assistance by assisting with movement of patients to and from radiographic tables.
  • Clean assigned work areas and equipment, stock radiographic rooms with supplies, and handle linen and laundry disposal.
  • Transport non-oxygen and oxygen patients to and from hospital locations.
  • Pick up and deliver specimens, equipment, supplies, and messages as directed.
  • Assist technologists with imaging procedures, including dressing, undressing, and positioning patients.
  • Respond promptly to patient calls and check on patients per department procedures.
  • Assist technologists with procedure setup, including moving and setting up radiographic equipment.
  • Provide general patient care, addressing emotional and physical needs, and respond politely to patient, family, and visitor requests.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports related to patients and departmental activities.
  • Initiate emergency calls and contact appropriate personnel when urgent situations arise.
  • Monitor the medical status of radiology patients.
  • Perform other related duties as needed.

Level II:

In addition to Level I duties, responsibilities include:

  • Setting up and cleaning imaging rooms and instruments.
  • Entering patient data into computer systems.
  • Assisting with patient prep for interventional procedures and scheduling patients.
  • Assisting with sterile procedures and equipment setup.
  • Processing images and maintaining inventory supplies.
  • Performing sterilization and cleaning tasks.
Qualifications
Education

Level I & II: High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience

Level I: Completion of patient transport safety training within 30 days of hire.

Level II: Completion of Transport Safety Training and two years of experience as a Clinical Tech Assistant I.

Licensure & Certifications

Both levels: BLS certification.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Level I & II: Excellent customer service skills, ability to perform heavy lifting, and ability to work independently. Level II additionally requires the ability to perform complex tasks and sterile procedures.
