Department Summary

The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth is excited to announce the formation of its College of Nursing. The new college will help address the shortage of nurses in Texas, which has the second-fewest nurses per capita in the U.S.

The new College of Nursing will join five other colleges and schools offering degree programs at HSC: the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, School of Biomedical Sciences, School of Public Health, School of Health Professions and College of Pharmacy.

Position Overview

The Clinical Teaching Assistant (CTA) will assist the nursing program faculty in supervising and supporting students during clinical learning experiences. CTAs will work under the guidance of a master’s or doctorally-prepared nursing faculty member to ensure excellence in student skills performance, evaluation, and overall clinical learning outcomes.

The Clinical Teaching Assistant will report to the nursing faculty and collaborate with the Course leader or the Track Coordinator. A faculty member must be present at the same facility and available for consultation as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas.

Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) required.

At least one year of full-time direct patient care experience as a registered nurse

within the last five years.

Demonstrated clinical expertise in designated teaching areas.

Ability to supervise up to 10-15 students when working alongside a supervising faculty

member.

Commitment to fostering student success in a clinical learning environment.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

Strong communication and organizational skills.

Effective mentoring and teaching abilities in a clinical setting.

Knowledge of evidence-based nursing practices.

Professional integrity and ability to model ethical behavior.

Familiarity with nursing program curriculum and clinical objectives is a plus.
