Job summary

ARUP Laboratories in Salt Lake City seeks a Clinical Systems Platform Architect to own the administration, stability, security, and lifecycle management of assigned clinical systems (LIS, LIMS, IMS, and related platforms). You will coordinate upgrades, manage environments, partner with validation teams, and ensure audit readiness for CAP/CLIA/GxP inspections.

  • Experience planning and executing system upgrades, patches, and vendor releases following change and validation processes.
  • Experience owning environment management (DEV/TEST/PROD), refreshes, and configuration consistency.

  • Monitor system health, performance, and availability, responding to Tier 3 platform issues and supporting root-cause analysis for systemic incidents.
  • Coordinate downtime activities, recovery procedures, and disaster recovery testing.
  • Ensure audit readiness by maintaining system documentation, access reviews, and evidence required for CAP/CLIA/GxP inspections.
  • Serve as the technical point of contact with vendors for platform‑level issues.
  • Support application teams by providing stable, secure platforms and enforcing administrative standards.
  • Adhere to change control, security, and regulatory requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned

Job description

Primary Purpose

Own the administration, stability, security, and lifecycle management of assigned clinical system(s) (e.g., LIS, LIMS, IMS, and related platforms). This role is responsible for system upgrades, access and role management, environment coordination, vendor technical engagement, and audit readiness. The Clinical Systems Platform Architect ensures systems operate reliably, securely, and in compliance with regulatory and organizational standards, partnering with analysts, integration teams, and validation teams as required.

Essential Functions
  • Administer assigned clinical systems, including user access, roles, security groups, and permissions

Physical And Other Requirements
  • Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
  • Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Mobility: The person in this position needs to occasionally move between work sites and inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Communicate: Frequently communicate with others.
  • PPE: Biohazard laboratory environment that requires use of personal protective equipment in accordance with CDC and OSHA regulations and company policies.
  • ARUP Policies and Procedures: To conduct self in compliance with all ARUP Policies and Procedures.
  • Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Fine Motor Control: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.
  • Vision: Having close, far, and peripheral visual acuity to perform a variety of tasks such as make general observations of depth and distance.
