UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital is seeking a Full Time Clinical Support Specialist III to support Ultrasound OBGYN!

This position will work daylight shifts Monday through Friday, as well as rotating Saturdays from 6:45am to 2:45pm. Hours and travel requirements are subject to change based on business needs.

Under the general direction of the Manager/Coordinator, the Clinical Support Specialist III performs a broad range of clinical support services with an active customer interface, serving as a team leader and resource individual to ensure efficient provision of services. Duties include greeting and registering patients, rooming patients, triaging phone lines, scheduling appointments, supporting staff with administrative tasks, and providing excellent customer service and patient care.

Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain office equipment and inform appropriate personnel of service needs.
  2. Interact directly with patients, family members, staff, and healthcare professionals.
  3. Utilize a computer system to enter, retrieve, edit, and print data as required.
  4. Answer work area telephones and triage calls as appropriate.
  5. Possess knowledge of pre-authorization requirements for imaging procedures.
  6. Possess in-depth knowledge of specific department functions (e.g., Scheduling, mammography screening, file maintenance).
  7. Follow mandatory reporting procedures for any incident or serious event affecting patient care.
  8. Prepare departmental reports, forms, and miscellaneous documents as required.
  9. Obtain information and schedule examination appointments.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • One year of experience with computers, patient record maintenance, or reception.
  • In-depth knowledge of Hospital and Radiology Information Systems.
  • Knowledge of third-party healthcare coverage and billing requirements.
  • Previous experience with scheduling is preferred.
  • Previous medical office or healthcare experience is preferred.
  • Strong computer and phone skills are highly preferred.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Act 34 clearance.
