Overview
Location: 551 Brevard Rd, Asheville, NC 28806
Pay Range: $26.54 - $49.29 per hour
Schedule: PRN, Monday-Friday 8a-5p (no nights, weekends, or major holidays)
This position supports our clinic by chemotherapy infusion, clinical triage, and phone triage. Prior oncology/infusion experience is required. Employees with an active OCN will receive an additional $2.25/hour on top of the PRN differential.

Responsibilities
- Provide safe, accurate and efficient patient care including assessment, lab review, vital signs, medication safety, dose verification, and drug administration.
- Follow all Job Breakdown Instructions (JBIs) associated with the role.
- Provide triage care when necessary.
- Communicate patient condition effectively to multidisciplinary team members.
- Safely and accurately administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biotherapy, supportive care, and non-oncologic agents as ordered by providers.
- Apply Oncology Nurse’s Society (ONS) standards and guidelines.
- Dispose of biohazardous waste safely in accordance with OSHA and NIOSH guidelines.
- Conduct new and ongoing patient education, continual assessment, and support.
- Document thoroughly, accurately and timely in the EMR, ensuring appropriate charges and patient identification per JBI guidelines.
- Educate patients and caregivers about medications, side effects, and the planned treatment course.
- Perform telephone triage: prioritize incoming calls/messages from patients, families, hospitals, nursing facilities, pharmacies, and physician offices and respond in an appropriate timeframe.
- Assist with inventory, re- stocking medical supplies, and recommend new items as needed.
- Complete required safety and nursing trainings annually.
- Attend all mandatory staff meetings.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and employee information.
- Assist in training new employees related to job duties according to JBIs.
- Work at any company location as needed and overtime when given notice.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
- Comply with all federal and state laws and regulations regarding patient privacy, personnel law, safety, labor, and employment law.
- Adhere to company and departmental policies and procedures, including IT policies and the Disaster Plan.
Job Qualifications and Requirements
- Registered Nursing degree and unencumbered RN license in the state of employment or a multi-state license.
- Current CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for travel to other clinic locations.
- Experience treating hematology/oncology patients in a clinic or hospital setting; minimum years of experience not specified.
- Strong critical thinking, decision-making, problem-solving, planning, time-management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to assess patient needs and react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Fluent in English with excellent oral and written communication skills.

Computer and EMR Skills

Standard Core Workdays & Hours
- Monday to Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
- Occasional overtime; weekend shifts based on location hours and operational needs.
