Job summary

The Woman's Hospital of Texas is seeking a Clinical Support Coordinator to mentor new graduate and transitioning NICU nurses, guiding skill development and clinical judgment. You will round on units, provide real-time coaching, and reinforce high-quality care.

Responsibilities include hands-on support during rapid responses, teaching essential nursing skills, and partnering with unit leaders to improve practice and safety. This role requires NICU experience and nursing leadership abilities.

Qualifications

  • RN credential required.
  • Registered Nurse Diploma required.
  • BSN required, MSN preferred.
  • 5 years NICU experience in level 3 or 4 units.

Responsibilities

  • Rounding on nursing units to observe care and provide in-the-moment coaching.
  • Guide new and transitioning nurses through skill development and clinical judgment.
  • Provide hands-on support during rapid responses and codes with feedback and debriefs.
  • Teach, demonstrate, and troubleshoot essential nursing skills while identifying learning needs.
  • Reinforce safety standards, regulatory expectations, and communication best practices.
  • Partner with unit leaders to support nurse growth, practice improvement, and teamwork.

Job Summary And Qualifications
New nurses shape the future of patient care, and the support they receive directly impacts how well they deliver it. As a Clinical Support Coordinator, you will be a trusted clinical mentor who helps new graduate nurses and nurses moving into new specialties understand their roles, grow their clinical skills, and deliver safe, quality care. By rounding on units, guiding real-time learning, and coaching in critical moments, you will strengthen confidence, improve practice, and help care teams improve more lives in more ways.
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Rounding on nursing units to observe care, provide in-the-moment coaching, and reinforce safe, quality nursing practice
  • Guiding new and transitioning nurses through skill development, clinical judgment, care planning, and escalation processes
  • Providing hands-on support during rapid responses and codes, including feedback and clinical debriefs to reinforce learning
  • Teaching, demonstrating, and troubleshooting essential nursing skills while identifying shared learning needs to strengthen training
  • Reinforcing safety standards, regulatory expectations, and communication best practices (AIDET, Teach-Back, Narrating Care)
  • Partnering with unit leaders to support nurse growth, improve practice, and foster accountability, safety, and teamwork
What qualifications you will need:
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Neonate Resuscitate must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • NIH Stroke Scale must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • (RN) Registered Nurse
  • Registered Nurse Diploma
  • BSN Required, MSN preferred
  • 5 years experience NICU in level 3 and or 4 required
