Job summary

OU Health in Oklahoma City is seeking a Clinical Support Assistant- Critical Care Stepdown Days PRN to assist with routine patient-care tasks under RN supervision. You will monitor patient status, take vitals, assist with admissions, discharges and transports, and support sterile procedures.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, and BLS certification upon hire; no experience is required. Strong communication and teamwork are essential to ensure safe patient care.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association upon hire.
• Knowledge of basic nursing techniques and procedures.

• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
• Ability to maintain effective working relations with others.

Responsibilities

• Under general supervision of the RN and in collaboration with the patient and family, monitor the patient's health status and implement the plan of care.
• Carry out physician and nursing orders within scope as directed by the RN.
• Take and record blood pressures, temperatures, pulse and weight.
• Perform blood glucose monitoring.
• Set up and discontinue telemetry monitor.
• Collect specimens as directed.
• Apply sterile dressings, remove sutures, staples and/or drains; perform sterile procedures as assigned.
• Perform stomal irrigation and apply colostomy pouches.
• Perform oral suctioning.
• Take emergency action as needed within scope.
• Report symptoms and significant changes to RN.
• Assist with admission, discharge and transfer process.
• Transport patients to and from treatment centers when necessary; assist transporters in moving patients.
• Keep the patient's room clean and orderly; make beds and replace soiled linen.
• Assist in restocking rooms with supplies and equipment.
• When assigned to one patient as a safety attendant, provide care and do not leave the patient alone.

General Summary

• Assists in restocking rooms with supplies and equipment as directed.

• When assigned to one patient as a safety attendant, provides care, observes the patient and does not leave the patient alone.
