clinical supervisor – extended day program

POSITION SUMMARY: The Clinical Supervisor is responsible for the treatment, care, welfare and security for all youth while on the milieu and during transport. This will be accomplished by training and supervising Extended Day Treatment staff with regards to their responsibilities as facilitators in group sessions, supervision of youth, implementation of a predictable schedule, maintaining a trauma-informed, safe, clean and attractive program and work environment and the safe and timely transportation of youth to and from the program. The Clinical Supervisor facilitates group sessions and will work as a substitute staff when an assigned DCW or therapist is not present. The Clinical Supervisor supervises the Transportation Coordinator and interacts with administrative and treatment staff and reports to the Director of Extended Day Treatment. Other assigned duties will be expected to be performed.

Accountable And Responsible For The Following Results

  • Supervises staff assigned to the program, including the hiring, training and disciplining of staff.

Ø Remains aware and educates DCWs about individualized treatment goals on each child’s treatment plan

Ø Ensures DCWs provide individualized interventions within the context of the milieu that promote progress towards treatment goals and assesses effectiveness of interventions, to recognize client progress and struggles

Ø Ensures DCWs complete documentation that complies with DCF licensing requirements, Joint Commission and DSS standards and Agency policy

Ø Provide clinical and administrative supervision to help staff develop competence in working with the population and master the responsibilities on their job descriptions

Ø Provides training in group process, group curriculum, trauma informed services, CCG and other topics as assigned.

Ø Supervises the Transportation Coordinator

Ø Ensures DCWs are adhering to transportation routes by picking up and dropping off children at assigned times and locations and that Agency policy is followed when using Agency vehicles

Ø Provides supervision to clinical therapists and interns as assigned

  • Ensures children receive continuous quality care by maintaining a schedule of staff daily and providing services to children

Ø Provides group sessions

Ø Provides individual and family therapy as assigned and/or manage a caseload as a clinical therapist as determined by Director

Ø Provides direct-care services in the absence of a Direct-care worker

  • Assist in the development, implementation and ongoing evaluation of program design/services to ensure compliance with DCF licensing requirements, contract and EDT practice standards, DSS billing regulations, Joint Commission standards and Agency policy

Ø Assists with the admissions process to ensure maximum utilization and census

Ø Maintains a trauma-informed, predictable environment for children that is safe, welcoming and representative of the client population served

Ø Assists staff with preparing activities within the daily schedule (for example- makes sure that there is a plan for arts and crafts and that supplies are in stock, there is an activity planned for the gym that promotes progress towards treatment plan goals, etc)

Ø Communicate to Program Director on a weekly basis the issues impacting the clients, milieu staff, and operation of the program, and immediately when concerns are related to safety or client/family/ employee dissatisfaction

Ø Maintains accurate and timely record keeping and assists with Quality Assurance reviews

Ø Act as a liaison with community contacts such as schools, probation offices, etc.

Ø Communicate directly with adult caretakers of clients regarding issues impacting the milieu and/or their children

  • Administrative duties that involve but are not limited to the functional operation of the milieu (i.e. requisitions, ADP)
  • Successfully complete CCG (Crisis Consulting Group) training and perform physical restraints with clients when needed.
  • Maintains all mandatory trainings including CPR, First Aid, Boundary Training, Fire Safety Training, Driver Safety Training, OSHA (Bloodborne Pathogens, Infection Control, Workplace Violence, SDS), and any others as assigned.
  • Performs any other related work assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Skills:

Good supervisory, organizational and communication (verbal and written) skills. Ability to multi-task, intervene in crisis and assess safety issues as they relate to the environment and client functioning. Ability to engage children and adolescents in treatment and motivate youth and employees.

Previous Experience And/or Training

Two years of experience working with children with psychiatric illnesses, ideally in a program with a therapeutic milieu. Two years of supervisory experience preferred. Experience interfacing with parents, guardians, and community support systems. Valid CT driver’s license, able to become certified in CCG, CPR, First Aid, and Medication Administration.
