CommunitySupport Services (CSS) transforms lives and community by supporting veterans,ending homelessness, treating substance use, and preventing and intervening incommunity and domestic violence. As a department in Mecklenburg County’s Healthand Human Services Agency, CSS maximizes community partnerships andcollaborative opportunities to improve access to services and advocate for theneeds of special populations.
Position Specific Information
Selected candidate will supervise acase coordinator, an administrative assistant, and substance use counselorsperforming assessments, counseling, case management, and other similaractivities in the Detention Center located at 801 East Fourth Street,Charlotte, NC 28202.This position will behoused onsite at the Mecklenburg County Detention Center in uptown Charlotte.The position hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
This position serves as part of acollaborative partnership between Community Support Services and theMecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.The day treatment program provides inmates an opportunity toparticipate in group and individual sessions where substance use issuesare addressed. The program uses acombination of Best Practice Models such as Motivational Interviewing,Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Seeking Safety, Helping Men Recover, andspecific programs that change criminal thinking.
Candidates are required to havedual licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or LicensedClinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC), etc AND an LCAS AND CCS in North Carolina. Provisionally certifiedclinical supervisors may be considered such as Clinical Supervisor-Intern status with the NCASPPB.
The chosen candidate will provideclinical and administrative supervision to include completing performanceevaluations, coaching staff, making hiring/termination recommendationsand providing ongoing training.
Incumbent is also responsible forquality and compliance review, monitoring the provision ofservices to address client’s immediate service needs, developinginnovative methods to enhance current programming and conducting programevaluation and improvement activities in compliance with federal, state,and local standards.
Focusingon community partnerships, serving as a liaison, and meeting withcommunity stakeholders in order to further develop strategic initiative activitiesis required.
Selected candidate will berequired to complete onboarding processes with both the County and withthe Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO). This includes the abilityto obtain and maintain facility access to the Mecklenburg CountyDetention Center as a contingency of employment.
Position Summary
Supervise licensed clinicians and employeesperforming clinical interventions and/or case management to individualsimpacted by substance use, mental health, domestic violence, traumaand/or developmental disabilities. This supervisory position isresponsible for quality along with compliance review and may carry acaseload of its own.

Minimum Qualifications
Experience:Minimum of four years of progressivelyresponsible experience or training providing clinical services in thearea assigned.
Education:Master's degree in Social Work,Psychology, Counseling, or a related field.

Licenses and Certifications:
Licensure by NC in one of the following areas: Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LPA, LCMHC (additional certifications may be required based on target population being served)
First Aid and CPR Certification
Requires a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's License
Requires County Driving Privileges
Annual Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check required
Preferred Qualifications
Dual licensure as a LicensedClinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor(LCMHC), AND an LCAS AND CCS in North Carolinaa must.
Candidate must be comfortableworking in a criminal justice environment/setting with individuals withmental health and substance use issues.
Previous supervisory experience inmental health and substance use related field.
Experience with Seeking Safety,Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction, Trauma-Informed Care models andapplying them to the population served.
