Job summary

AOC Outreach Services in Houston seeks a Clinical Supervisor/Crisis Therapist to lead the Crisis Program, supervise QMHPs, and ensure high-quality crisis care 24/7 across the community. You will review assessments, CEPPs, ISPs, and service authorizations; provide clinical direction to staff; and coordinate with other agencies to strengthen services.

This role requires a Texas license (LCSW or LPC), experience supervising QMHPs, and the ability to respond to urgent crises with evidence-based

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a Human Services field with at least one year of mental health experience.
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC/LPC-Associate) in good standing with the Texas BHEC.
  • Two or more years of experience supervising QMHPs, including diagnosing and direct service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical supervision and documentation support to QMHPs weekly.

24/7 crisis access, rapid screening and triage, and least-restrictive, whole-person care built on a “No Wrong Door”

POSITION SUMMARY

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Supervision & Program Leadership
  • Provide clinical supervision and documentation support to QMHPs on a weekly and daily basis.
  • Review, complete, and sign Comprehensive Assessments, individualized Crisis Education and Prevention Plans (CEPPs), Individual Service Plans (ISPs), Service Registration Forms, Therapy Session/Daily Supervision notes, and Continued Stay Service Authorization Requests.
  • Attend all required CMBHS and TMHP trainings, and implement and communicate any changes needed to stay in compliance with licensure requirements.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and clinical direction to staff in developing and evaluating programs that respond to the needs of the population served.
  • Coordinate with other agencies and community resources to strengthen services through interagency collaboration.
  • Serve as a clinical member of the management team and support agency-wide quality improvement reporting.
  • Ensure agency compliance with all relevant laws, licensure regulations, and program policies.
Direct Clinical Care
  • Assess the mental and behavioral health status of referred clients and formulate differential diagnoses for mild to moderate mental health conditions and/or substance use.
  • Consult with new clients to understand their needs, resources, and circumstances, and build tailored short- and long-term treatment plans.
  • Identify clients in urgent crisis — suicidal, homicidal, psychotic, or otherwise — and make timely referrals to emergency or psychiatric treatment resources.
  • Provide individual, group, and family therapy, addressing concerns through talk therapy and modeling adaptive, sustainable coping strategies.
  • Monitor client progress and treatment adherence, and record symptomology over time to track the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Provide clear, thorough written documentation of assessments, sessions, interventions, and recommendations.
  • Deliver in-service training on relevant clinical topics for fellow staff as requested.
  • Orient clients to their rights under applicable human rights regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
  • Master degree from an accredited college or university in a Human Services field, with at least one year of direct work experience in mental health with individuals with a mental health diagnosis.
Licensure
  • Must be a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC / LPC-Associate) in good standing with the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council (BHEC).
  • Two or more years of experience directly supervising QMHPs preferred, including diagnosing, treatment, and direct service delivery to individuals with serious mental illness and serious emotional disturbance.
Additional Requirements
  • Experience managing and developing clinical programs.
  • Must clear a criminal history and central registry (CPS) background check, and maintain an acceptable driving record.
  • Current certification in First Aid, CPR, and Behavior Intervention.
  • Valid Texas drivers license and current vehicle insurance.
  • Reliable access to a computer and internet.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Strong knowledge of the principles, techniques, and practices of community-based mental health support services.
  • Understanding of program evaluation, casework documentation, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Extensive knowledge of mental illness, mental health diagnoses, and clinical assessment.
  • Considerable knowledge of the principles and methods of clinical supervision.
  • Familiarity with community resources and entitlement benefits.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Work spans client homes, foster homes, outpatient clinics, community settings, and crisis-response locations.
  • May require evening, weekend, or on-call hours depending on crisis coverage needs.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and use standard office equipment.
  • Occasional local travel between client and community sites.
