REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree (Bachelor of Science) or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)
  • Experience: 1 year of pharmacy experience; proficiency in English (speaking, reading, writing)
  • Licenses and Certifications: Eligible for licensure by Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) upon hire; Texas license within 30 days; Sterile compounding (IV) certification accredited by ACPE upon hire; BLS certification with courses accredited by AHA or ARC upon hire; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) course within 180 days for inpatient positions.
JOB DUTIES
  • Perform responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, performance improvement objectives, environmental/infection control standards, and legal regulations.
  • Accurately and promptly perform all computer order entries, review medication profiles, and monitor patient charges.
  • Review medication orders for appropriateness, interactions, and safety; seek clarification and document interventions.
  • Work independently and as part of a team, making sound decisions and demonstrating good judgment. Cross-train in multiple areas to maintain competency.
  • Enforce formulary policies, participate in cost-effective pharmaceutical practices.
  • Communicate drug information professionally to healthcare providers; assist in patient and family education; document clinical activities clearly.
  • Manage pharmacy technicians and support staff; delegate tasks appropriately; audit controlled substances and investigate discrepancies.
  • Engage in continuous personal development, participate in educational programs, and support departmental initiatives.
  • Support clinical programs, monitor drug therapies, and provide dosage recommendations based on patient-specific data.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including direct patient care, research, and record management.
