Job Description

Under the direction of the Director of Clinical Pharmacy Services and the Director of Pharmacy Operations, the pharmacist optimizes patient medication therapy by providing comprehensive pharmacy services. Using clinical judgment and available resources, the pharmacist approves medication orders for patients treated at Highland Hospital. The role involves overseeing and directly contributing to the compounding, preparation, and dispensing of medications in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations. Collaboration with the healthcare team is essential to achieve patient care goals.

The distribution of clinical and operational responsibilities may vary depending on the assigned responsibilities. For example, a Level II pharmacist may focus heavily on roles in the main pharmacy or IV compounding area, where clinical responsibilities might be limited. Regardless of focus, a Level II pharmacist is expected to possess greater specialized knowledge and competencies than a Level I pharmacist.

Salary Rate

$121,195-$149,976 Annually

This pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation. Salaries within this range will be determined based on factors such as market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise, and internal equity.

Job Requirements

  • Education: Fulfill the requirements to be a licensed pharmacist in NYS. Pharm.D with a minimum of 1 year of residency training preferred.
  • Experience: For newly hired Level II pharmacists, either at least 2 years of relevant acute care pharmacy experience or successful completion of a PGY1 residency.
  • License/Certification: Current New York state license (or eligibility) to practice pharmacy.
