Job summary

Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, NC, seeks a Clinical-Speech Language Pathologist to join our team in a 50/50 role combining neurogenic clinical work with research coordination.

You will evaluate adults with neurogenic disorders, administer standard assessments, create diagnostic reports, and educate team members while advancing innovative research led by our investigators.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or related field.
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Minimum six years of clinical experience working with adult neurogenic populations.
  • Minimum two years of experience working with adults with right hemisphere brain damage.
  • Minimum one year of clinical research experience.
  • Experience coordinating clinical research studies involving human subjects.
  • Experience with participant recruitment, informed consent, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience with OnCore and Maestro Care.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive speech-language and cognitive-communication evaluations for adults with acquired neurogenic communication disorders.
  • Administer and interpret standardized assessments to evaluate communication, cognition, language, discourse, and functional communication abilities.
  • Develop diagnostic reports and treatment recommendations based on clinical findings and evidence-based practices.
  • Provide individualized therapy interventions to support communication outcomes in adults with neurological conditions, including right hemisphere brain damage.
  • Educate patients, family members, caregivers, and interdisciplinary team members regarding communication disorders, treatment strategies, and prognosis.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation in accordance with professional standards and institutional guidelines.
  • Collaborate with physicians, rehabilitation professionals, researchers, and other members of the healthcare team to coordinate patient care and research activities.
  • Coordinate clinical research studies, administer assessments, manage data and regulatory documentation, and support investigators and participants.
