Job summary

The Cleveland Clinic in Twinsburg, OH, is seeking a Speech Pathologist to evaluate and treat adults with speech, language, cognitive and swallowing disorders. Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Speech/Language Pathology required.
  • Must hold or be eligible for an SP license in the state of employment.
  • Must hold CCC-SLP certification from ASHA.
  • Completed nine-month Clinical Fellowship Year.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical services to adult patients with speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing disorders.

  • Report test results to support medical diagnosis and care planning.
  • Counsel patients and families about diagnosis and treatment options.

  • Assist with planning, budgeting, and procurement of equipment or materials.

Job description

A Speech Pathologist evaluates patients to determine the causes and effects of various speech, language, cognitive communication, and swallowing disorders that affect patients. They investigate communications disorders and often different kinds of behaviors that manifest with communication difficulties. The Speech Pathologist in this role will care for adult patients over the age of 18 years old. You will work with patients with neuro disorders, dysphagia, and cognitive issues. This is a great hands-on role that will help you feel fulfilled in the work you do each day.

A caregiver in this position works Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm with a start time of 7:30am when necessary, with no weekends or holidays required.

Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical services to patients.
  • Perform diagnostic speech pathology test procedures.
  • Evaluate communication and swallowing function of patients.
  • Interpret and report test results to facilitate medical diagnosis.
  • Provide counseling and education about communication and the diagnosis to patients and families.
  • Determine therapeutic plans, including the need for therapy, frequency of treatment, focus for intervention, prognosis and duration of therapy.
  • Select assistive speech devices to improve the patient’s communication.
  • Perform re-evaluation to determine progress after therapy.
  • Provide observations about hearing and other behaviors to help determine the need for other services.
  • Maintain records of all services.
  • Communicate results and recommendations for improving communicative function to referral sources and outside agencies such as schools and employees.
  • Assist with planning, budget, service or project development, fee setting and purchase of new equipment or materials.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Speech/Language Pathology
  • Must hold or be eligible for a Speech-Language Pathology License (SP) from the State Board of Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology.
  • Must hold (SP) license in current state upon start date.
  • Holds Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Completed nine month Clinical Fellowship Year.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity sufficient to perform tests.
Personal Protective Equipment
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $30.41

Maximum hourly: $46.38
