A leading healthcare facility is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to assist in various clinical and clerical duties under physician supervision. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills and significant clinical experience, particularly in orthopaedic or urgent care environments. Responsibilities include patient interviews, vital sign assessment, and medication management, with an emphasis on providing excellent patient care in a dynamic medical office setting.
Hours: 7am to 7pm based on the needs of the practice - 40Hours per week
JOB SUMMARY:
Assists in all aspects of the medical practice under the direct supervision of a physician with both clinical and clerical responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION:
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing program.
• A minimum of three years of relevant clinical experience in a medical office or hospital setting (Orthopaedic, ER or Urgent Care experience strongly preferred).
• Must possess current certification in basic life support.
• Must possess excellent independent clinical knowledge.
• Must have excellent oral communication skills, knowledge of medical terminology, typing, grammar and spelling skills.
• On-the-job experience with medical computer software in a clinical setting required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Interviews patients, measures vital signs and types information and histories in Medent. Assists in examination and treatment of patients.
• Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
• Removes staples and sutures.
• Prepares injections and assists physician with the administration of injections.
• Assists in applying/removing casts/Durable Medical Equipment
• Tends to wounds.
• Enters appropriate ICD-10 and CPT codes into computer.
• Completes necessary paperwork and schedules surgeries and appointments.
• Telephones or electronically submits prescriptions to pharmacy as ordered by the physician.
• Educates patients and assists with patient inquiries regarding medication and pre & post-operative treatment.
• Assists team leaders with patient care duties, as delegated.
• Acts as agent for licensed provider.
• Maintains security of the secured medication closet and is responsible for maintaining an accurate medication log.
• Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILTIES:
No direct reports.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Must be proficient in the English language, both verbally and written, in order to communicate effectively with patients, co-workers, physicians, vendors, and the general public.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Moderate physical effort when working in patient care environment consisting of standing, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching, and stooping. Moderate sitting and keyboarding when performing administrative responsibilities. Fine and gross motor skills and manual dexterity to operate keyboard and other equipment. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Must be able to respond quickly and effectively to an emergency. WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Climate controlled environment with occasional periods of being outside.
