Clinical Social Worker for the Emergency Department and Inpatient Medicine and Surgery. The Clinical Social Worker is responsible for bio-psychosocial assessments, resources, and referrals for selected patients in the ED and inpatient settings. Reporting to the Social Work Manager or supervisor, the social worker will assess and intervene for patients and families impacted by acute medical needs and psychosocial factors affecting their care. The role involves identifying high-risk psychosocial factors, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and providing emotional support, resources, and recommendations to address barriers to care and discharge planning. Knowledge of mandated reporting, trauma-informed care, cultural and age-specific concerns, homelessness, food insecurity, substance use, psychiatric illnesses, and community resources is essential. Participation in departmental and hospital committees, as well as collaboration with other disciplines, is expected.
Education: Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Social Work or Mental Health & Behavioral Medicine. Experience may not replace the degree.
Licenses and Credentials: Preferred licenses include LCSW, LICSW, LSW, LMHC, and a Class D Passenger Vehicle Driver's License.
Experience: 0-1 year clinical experience in a medical setting required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Excellent organizational, crisis intervention, problem-solving, and communication skills. Knowledge of community resources and aging process.
