The Clinical Social Service Director assumes responsibility for the functioning and communication within the social service department. The Clinical Social Worker participates as an integral professional member of a multi-disciplinary team, implementing and assisting in the supervision of social service interventions for patients. The Clinical Social Worker oversees the implementation of interventions performed by other disciplines in the social service department—Discharge Planner, Case Manager, Activity Therapist, and other social service employees. The Clinical Social Worker works in collaboration with other clinical departments through consultation with medical staff, DON, and nursing staff. The Clinical Social Worker facilitates resolution of concerns in the patient population and ensures that services, programming, and patients’ social needs meet the highest quality of care. The Clinical Social Worker demonstrates understanding and interpretation of facility policies and ensures adherence. The Clinical Social Worker demonstrates strong knowledge of a wide range of disorders—cognitive, emotional, developmental, social and behavioral. Additional duties include crisis intervention, special case conferences, family communication, and leading the treatment team process. The Clinical Social Worker maintains performance improvement activities within the department and participates in QM activities, adheres to the highest ethical standards regarding patient care and rights, facilitates communication to outside agencies to meet patient rights, care, and needs, and assists with formulating the budgetary needs for the social service department.
Salary Range: $65,000 – $75,000 (depending on experience) with additional performance bonuses up to $500 a month.
