Job description

Position Summary

Responsible for the overall operational flow of the inpatient unit including coordination, collaboration and direction of the entire unit during the shift covered to ensure effective delivery of healthcare service and KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) or unit specific measures.

Responsibilities

• Functions as staff resource in facilitating critical thinking and clinical decision making.
• Acts as a charge nurse relief, progressive supervisory experience.
• Manages a changing work environment as a result of changing patient needs, including working with patients with acute, chronic, and complex disease processes, and those who are dying.
• Demonstrates interaction and communication (oral, writing, presenting) skills to effectively communicate with patients, family members, physicians, visitors, and co-workers during day-to-day, stressful, and emotionally charged situations.
• Demonstrates competence, clinical expertise, and sound professional judgment.
• Works independently and cooperatively with health care team members (physicians, Rehab, Respiratory, DI, Lab, etc.) and diverse patient populations.
• Uses effective time management to set priorities, perform job related responsibilities, and respond quickly to emergency situations.
• Uses effective analytical and critical thinking skills to problem‑solve, make clinical decisions, and respond quickly to meet patient care and departmental needs.
• Attentive to details and able to perform work accurately, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
• Current/valid State of New Jersey license (or legal permission to work from the New Jersey Board of Nursing).
• Completion of general nursing orientation, CPR certification and unit-based orientation.
• Progressive supervisory experience (i.e., relief charge nurse).
• Medical terminology and computer and keyboard skills.
• Current and valid New Jersey Registered Nursing license.

Compensation

Pay Range: $55.34 - $69.17 (per hour). Salary and compensation vary depending on role, experience, education, and licensure.
