Job Title: Clinical Service Specialist, Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation

Entity: Lancaster General Health

Location: Lebanon Health Center- 1701 Cornwall Rd

Hours: Monday-Friday 6:45AM-3:15PM

Position Summary:

  • Provides complete and accurate patient scheduling, registration, insurance verification, ordering of tests and coordination of applicable screening, diagnostic, physician office and outpatient hospital services. Capable of coordinating and communicating effectively during increased volumes or with complex patients. Assists with the delivery of direct, non-licensed patient care in accordance with established methods and procedures, under the supervision and guidance of appropriate personnel.

Responsibilities:

Qualified individuals must have the ability with or without reasonable accommodation to perform the following duties:

  • Registration: Performs complete and accurate patient registration including but not limited to walk-in, check-in, and scheduled appointments. Demonstrates ability to adapt and perform during times of high volumes and/or high patient acuity. Supports inbound and outbound calls to or from patients, guests, or appropriate parties as needed to provide services.

Patient Liability and Point of Service Collections:

  • Understands and supports Point of Service Collections. Performs all necessary functions needed to collect patient obligations. Refers patients to appropriate personnel for questions regarding collections, insurance coverage, and financial assistance. Discusses co-pays, out-of-pocket expenses, pre-appointment preparations, and arrival times with patients.

E-Health Record Verification:

  • Verifies patient, guarantor, coverage, and hospital account information. Performs referral authorization processes and enters orders for tests. Understands insurance coverage and referral requirements. Performs electronic and manual verification of insurance coverage. Prepares, releases, and scans records and documents into the electronic health record, adhering to timely documentation standards.

Compliance & Regulatory:

  • Completes necessary documentation for compliance and regulatory purposes. Abides by all relevant regulatory requirements pertaining to duties and hospital operations.

Complex Situations & Scheduling:

  • Screens and relays messages using protocols for emergent, urgent, and non-urgent calls. Registers unscheduled patients requiring full financial clearance.

Work Queues & Environment Management:

  • Completes assigned work queues, resolves issues, and maintains cleanliness and organization of patient care and public areas. Performs equipment maintenance and inventory management.

Supply & Patient Care Safety:

  • Orders and stocks supplies, maintains safety standards, and assists with patient interactions and procedures as needed, including phlebotomy, EKGs, and point-of-care testing.

Credentials & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • At least one year of revenue cycle experience in a hospital or medical office setting, or administrative data entry experience in a healthcare or business environment.
  • Customer service experience in a highly customer-oriented organization.
  • Proficiency with basic computer and keyboarding skills.
  • Good standing with Medicare, Medicaid, and other insurance programs.
  • Preferred: Epic EMR experience, registration, point of service collection, and compliance knowledge.
