Vertex offers a two‑year Clinical Scientist fellowship in Boston, collaborating with Northeastern University and industry partners to advance clinical development programs. Fellows contribute to design, execution, and monitoring of trials, and interact with investigators and thought leaders.

The role emphasizes scientific input, data interpretation, and communication, with opportunities to learn across GMDA functions and participate in cross‑functional study teams.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE‑accredited institution.
• Eligible for pharmacist licensure in the State of Massachusetts.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a matrix organization.

Responsibilities

• Act as clinical representative and liaison to therapeutic area for studies: start‑up, safety and monitoring, close‑out activities.
• Support Medical Lead with medical monitoring reports, safety reviews, site interactions, and reviewing TFLs; analyze safety/efficacy data.
• Provide support for Data Monitoring Committees, charter, updates, blinded data reviews, and meetings.
• Contribute to protocols, study reports, IBs, ICFs, manuals and training documents under the Medical Lead.
• Lead interactions with internal/external stakeholders (sites, vendors, committees) for trial objectives.
• Organize and execute investigator and advisory board meetings with project teams and vendors.
• Present scientific material for conference presentations or publications.
• Learn other GMDA functions through rotations and cross‑functional interactions.
