The Position

The Clinical Science Liaison will serve as a key strategic and scientific expert within the Medical Affairs team, with responsibilities spanning both early-stage development and external engagement across New Zealand.

The individual will engage with key opinion leaders, investigators, and other stakeholders to provide scientific education on Arrowhead’s RNAi technology, therapeutic areas of focus, and clinical data. Internally, the role will support cross-functional collaboration with R&D, Clinical Development, and Regulatory teams to ensure alignment of medical strategies with business objectives.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in early clinical research, excellent communication skills, and experience managing scientific partnerships across regions.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a scientific expert by mapping and engaging with healthcare professionals and stakeholders to educate on Arrowhead’s early RNAi programs.
• Think strategically in synthesizing and sharing clinical insights internally and externally across key geographies.
• Support early development programs by contributing to clinical strategy, endpoint selection, and value proposition planning.
• Help lead medical engagement at scientific congresses, advisory boards, and symposia, including presentations, booth coverage, and post-meeting debriefs.
• Partner cross-functionally with R&D, Clinical Ops, and Regulatory to align medical plans with business and development goals.
• Maintain up-to-date expertise in disease area, competitive landscape, and evolving scientific literature.
• Identify and execute scientific collaborations with external experts and organizations to support trial design in Australia and New Zealand.
• Develop and implement Integrated Evidence Plans and early-stage Medical Narratives for pipeline assets.
• Support company-sponsored clinical trials through investigator engagement, site support, and education across New Zealand.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, GDPR, and global regulatory requirements in all medical affairs activities.
• Respond to unsolicited medical inquiries and support medical information and education initiatives with scientifically accurate content.
• Lead or contribute to special projects, including BD evaluations, risk management planning, publication strategies, and global launch readiness.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 60%
• Any changes or other responsibilities to be performed by you as determined by us will be discussed with you from time to time.

Requirements

• PhD, PharmD, MD, or DO degree required
• 5 years of clinical trial or medical affairs experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry
• Experience with early clinical development activities
• Proven ability to manage clinical studies independently with minimal supervision
• Strong knowledge of Clinical trial methodology; data analysis and interpretation; regulatory requirements governing clinical trials; clinical research and development processes
• Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional team environments
• Ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders to support business strategy
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
• Valid driver’s license required

Pay Range

$140,000 — $172,000 NZD
