Job summary

Trinity Health Grand Rapids is seeking a Clinical Risk Coordinator to advance the risk management program across clinical areas. You will lead investigations of adverse events, support sentinel event processes, and drive safety initiatives in collaboration with leadership.

The role requires an RN with a BSN in Michigan, at least four years acute care experience, and risk management or quality improvement expertise to promote a culture of safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• RN with a BSN in Michigan is required.
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Michigan.
• Four years of acute healthcare delivery experience preferred.
• Risk management certification or QA experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements risk identification, investigation and reduction systems.
• Oversees Serious Reportable Events investigations and communication to leadership.
• Facilitates a proactive risk management program to promote safety and patient care.
• Collaborates with service lines and ambulatory offices and responds to questions.
• Gathers data for audits and compliance activities within Trinity Health.
• Investigates adverse events, Sentinel Events, or near-miss events.

Description:

Supports the development, education, maintenance, consistent application and accountability of Trinity Health Grand Rapids Risk Management program, in collaboration with leadership staff, to promote an environment of safety. Identifies opportunities and conducts investigations for potential adverse events or Sentinel Events. Conducts claims management activities related to potentially compensable events and litigated cases. Is responsible for specified service lines, encompassing all clinical areas of the Integrated Regional Health Ministry (RHM).

What the Clinical Risk Coordinator will need:

• Graduate of an approved nursing program, BSN Required
• Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan

Preferred Experience:

• Four years acute experience in healthcare delivery.
• Risk Management Certification within 3 years of hire
• Previous education and experience in Quality Improvement

What the Clinical Risk Coordinator will do:

• Develops and implements systems for risk identification, investigation and risk reduction.
• Oversees Serious Reportable Events investigation, tracking, risk modification, and communication to Manager, Risk Management.
• Facilitates a pro-active clinical and non-clinical risk management program to promote an environment of safety, including elements of the National Patient Safety Goals.
• Develops relationships with service lines and ambulatory offices by rounding, attending huddles, and being available to respond to questions and concerns from them.
• Collaborates with service line leadership to collate data for Trinity Health audits for compliance.
• Conducts investigation of adverse events, Sentinel Events, or near miss events
