Qualifications

  • Two years of experience in a medical/critical care field or OPO required.
  • Competence in electronic medical records and medical terminology is required.
  • Experience as Medical Technologist, Nursing Assistant, or similar preferred.

At Network for Hope (NFH), we are dedicated to saving and enhancing lives through organ, tissue, and eye donation. As a Clinical Responder, you will play a critical role in ensuring that all eligible organ referrals receive timely evaluation and follow-up. You will conduct onsite assessments of potential donors, collaborate with healthcare teams, and facilitate communication to support the donation process. This position requires clinical expertise, strong decision-making skills, and the ability to work in high-pressure situations while maintaining professionalism and compassion.

Hours: 7a-7p

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Response & Evaluation

  • Respond promptly to donation service area hospitals for viable organ referrals, ensuring a strong NFH presence.
  • Conduct chart reviews and assess medical suitability for donation in collaboration with clinical personnel.
  • Work closely with healthcare teams to manage referrals from initial identification through declaration of death or DCD evaluation.
  • Keep hospital staff informed on referral progression and maintain accurate documentation throughout the process.
  • Stay current on authorization training and provide guidance as needed.
  • Address process concerns and assist in resolving customer service issues related to donation.
  • Consult with organ administrators on call (AOC) and Family Support Liaison (FSL) staff as needed.
  • Uphold integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality in all interactions.

Stakeholder Support & Relationship Building

  • Provide emotional support and expertise in the donation process for donor families, utilizing additional resources as needed.
  • Foster strong relationships with hospital staff and stakeholders, delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Actively promote organ and tissue donation while reinforcing a positive image of NFH.

Qualifications

Education: Some post-secondary education is required. An associate degree in allied or health science or equivalent experience preferred.

Experience: Two years of experience in a medical/critical care field or OPO required. Experience as Medical Technologist, Nursing Assistant, Unit Secretary or similar, EMT, Paramedic, or RRT preferred. Competence in electronic medical records (EMR) and an understanding of medical charting and terminology is required. The ability to communicate effectively and professionally, as well as provide exemplary customer service is required.
