Nemours Children’s Health is seeking a full-time Clinical Research Technologist II for the Biobank CAP accredited program. The role processes specimens, ships materials, maintains records, and supports protocol development under supervision, with independence as appropriate.

You will handle plasma/serum, mononuclear cells, tissue culture, data entry, accessioning, and participate in safety and training activities, collaborating with clinicians and lab staff to ensure quality and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or MT with equivalent experience is required.
  • Minimum 3 years of related laboratory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Process biological specimens (blood, body fluids, tissue, bone marrow) and track with the database.
  • Ensure CAP-aligned lab practices and maintain safe equipment operation.
  • Work independently and with senior staff to resolve issues.
  • Monitor temperature-dependent storage units and participate in protocol development.
  • Contribute to SOP writing and protocol reviews.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians and hospital staff.
  • Train and mentor new lab technologists.
  • Follow Nemours safety policies and participate in required training.
  • Engage in core competencies: culture, relationships, improvement, communication, change.
  • Complete annual Nemours mandatory training.

Job description

The Biobank and Molecular Analysis Program (BMAP) at Nemours Children’s Health is seeking a full-time Clinical Research Technologist II

The Clinical Research Technologist II serves as a bench technologist performing primary specimen processing in the Biobank CAP accredited program. This individual will work under the supervision of the Biobank Laboratory Manager and perform assignments independently as discussed and approved by senior lab staff. This individual will conduct routine specimen processing and shipping for both internally and externally funded projects of interest to the laboratory, including plasma/serum processing, mononuclear cell extraction, tissue culture, specimen data entry, and accessioning. Additional responsibilities include processing and shipping of clinical trial specimens. Maintains both handwritten and computerized records of work performed. Assists in implementation of new laboratory protocols and processes, maintenance of lab equipment, and monitors supplies. Performs more advanced safety functions in the lab, including testing of equipment. Performs advanced data entry. Participates in laboratory meetings.

Essential Functions:
  1. Responsible for processing various biological specimens (blood and body fluid, tissue, bone marrow, etc.) and utilizing databases for specimen tracking and storage, following laboratory protocols and SOP’s.
  2. Maintains the laboratory environment, demonstrates safe use and operation of equipment, and functions at a level consistent with CAP guidelines.
  3. Function independently as assigned and assists in resolving issues in coordination with senior lab staff/PI.
  4. Participate in rotational temperature dependent storage units monitoring
  5. Leads and participates in developing and reviewing protocols and processes and SOP writing.
  6. Communicate effectively with physicians and hospital staff.
  7. Trains and mentors new lab clinical technologists.
  8. Understands and is knowledgeable of Nemours safety policies, procedures and performs basic safety functions.
  9. Engage in and actively follows the five Nemours Associate Core Competencies – Cultural Stewardship; Relationship Management; Commitment to Improvement and Quality; Effective Communication and Champions Change.
  10. Complete annual Nemours mandatory training as assigned.
