About The Department

Department: BSD CCC - Biofluids Core

The University of Chicago Comprehensive Cancer Center (UCCCC) is part of the Biological Sciences Division (BSD), which includes the Pritzker School of Medicine. UCCCC manages four scientific programs and receives funding from the NCI-sponsored Cancer Center Support Grant for ten Shared Resources. The Center comprises over 190 faculty members across twenty departments, with significant funding in cancer research grants. Its activities include research, training, education, clinical trials, and community outreach. UCCCC has a large cancer clinical trials program, opening over 250 new trials annually and enrolling approximately 900 participants each year.

Job Summary

This role provides technical support for clinical studies, including data collection, documentation, and reporting. It involves assisting the Hematology/Oncology research team to adhere to protocols and gaining patient experience in cancer clinical research and laboratory work in IV therapy.

Responsibilities

1. Track and facilitate daily clinical research activities to prevent issues and deviations.
2. Coordinate specimen collection and schedule patient appointments.
3. Reconcile PK schedules, organize kits, and track study deviations.
4. Support blood collection, process and ship specimens, conduct ECGs, and maintain logs.
5. Organize samples, assist with flow sheets, and participate in sponsor visits.
6. Train new team members and participate in clinical studies activities.
7. Coordinate data and sample collection, and perform related tasks as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Vocational training, apprenticeships, or equivalent experience in related fields. 2-5 years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in a related field.
• Basic lab skills, computer skills (Word, Excel).
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, follow protocols, process samples timely, maintain records, communicate effectively, and work independently or with a team.

Working Conditions

• Travel up to 6 city blocks for ECGs.
• Flexible schedule required.
