BMC Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV is seeking a research assistant to participate in the design, execution, analysis and evaluation of health-related projects conducted with University Healthcare Physicians and WVU Health Sciences Center.

You will support academic research, help prepare manuscripts, develop educational materials, gather and analyze data, and assist with IRB submissions, protocol development, and outreach activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; OR high school diploma with four years related experience.
  • One year of human subject research experience.
  • Preferred: CITI certification.
  • Interest in professional development toward graduate school or healthcare research.
  • Experience with IRB submissions, protocol development, data collection, and basic descriptive analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with academic research, health-related program development and community engagement.
  • Assists with the editing and preparation of manuscripts.
  • Meets regularly with supervisor to discuss research and assignments.
  • Contributes to the development of project related web materials, educational materials, and social media content.
  • Attends program related community meetings and performs outreach.
  • Gathers and analyzes data.
  • Prepares materials for submission to agencies and foundations that fund research.
  • Prepares materials for IRB (Institutional Review Board) review.
  • Manages and replies to project-related correspondence.
  • Attends project meetings.
  • Assists with program related care innovations and quality improvement initiatives including education.
  • Prepares other articles, reports, and presentations.
  • Performs routine clerical duties as instructed, if essential to the research activities of the project to which the research assistant is assigned.
  • Assists with coordination and execution of academic conferences as specified.
  • Performs other project related duties as assigned by supervising faculty.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
  • Bachelor’s Degree; OR

High School diploma AND four years related experience.

EXPERIENCE
  • One (1) year of human subject research experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
  • Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI program) certification.
EXPERIENCE
  • Interest in professional development toward future graduate school or employment in healthcare related research.
  • Writing Institutional Review Board submissions, protocol development, data collection and basic descriptive analysis.
