Job Summary: Assists in facilitating the conduct of clinical research by performing research and clinical duties. Provides patient care within the scope of nursing practice and in compliance with guidelines set by governing agencies. Actual skills and responsibilities may vary according to the specific research project.

Responsibilities:

• Assesses and ensures subject safety during trial.
• Proposes and negotiates alternatives for protocol. Educates staff about the scientific aspects of the study.
• Applies pharmacological knowledge to help PI determine idiosyncrasies and unexpected results. Evaluates adverse events (AE), intervenes when necessary and reports details to PI. Conducts follow-up to determine resolution of AE. Reports serious AEs to IRB and sponsor.
• Presents related information to community for recruitment purposes or to other research professionals in a variety of settings.
• Mentors and trains new and subordinate employees.
• Helps determine personnel required to complete trial and develop the timeline for trial completion. Reviews study-related data to assure compliance with study protocol.
• Prepares emergency use report.
• Manages pharmacokinetic collection and storage.
• Relates lab results to PI and sponsor.
• Ensures appropriate maintenance and calibration of equipment.
• May perform bedside care.

Minimum Qualifications: RN license in Utah plus two years related experience. CCRP, ACRP-CRC, SOCRA-CCRP certification may be required depending on area. Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential within 30 days of hire. Effective communication skills required. Must demonstrate ability to perform essential functions. Immunization according to CDC standards is required.

Preferences: Experience in a specific nursing area may be preferred.
