Job summary

NHS Tayside is seeking a dedicated Research Nurse to support the TASC Research Nurse Service across NHS facilities in Tayside. The post focuses on managing patients in clinical research studies and trials, ensuring high-quality nursing care and adherence to regulatory standards.

The successful candidate will screen and recruit participants, provide education and direct care, and work with a multidisciplinary team to meet study targets while developing their clinical research skills.

Qualifications

• Registered nurse with UK NMC registration (RN1/RN2).
• Experience in clinical research nursing is desirable.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

An excellent opportunity has arisen to develop professionally within the TASC Research Nurse Service.

The focus of this post is to support Clinical Research studies across Clinical Research facilities in Tayside. This includes the Clinical Research Centre, the new Commercial Research Delivery Centre both in Ninewells Hospital and the Gannochy Trust Clinical Research Suite in Perth Royal Infirmary. This post will initially be within PRI.

Research nursing is a patient focused speciality and essential to the development of new treatments and healthcare. Under the supervision and with the support of the clinical research team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and conduct of commercial and non-commercial clinical research studies; this includes Clinical Trials of Investigational Medicinal Products.

The post-holder will manage a caseload of patients participating in research studies and clinical trials across a variety of therapeutic areas, providing them with the highest quality nursing care and ensuring that the research is carried out in adherence with clinical trials regulations, research governance and ICH Good Clinical Practice. This will involve screening, recruiting, educating, providing direct clinical care, and monitoring participants in studies as well as the collation and documentation of study data.

Applicants will have an understanding of research within the NHS. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is proven ability to be an effective team member. The post involves working closely with both the research team and the wider multidisciplinary team. You will also be able to work to achieve study targets and have strong organisational and IT skills.

This post offers the opportunity to develop new clinical skills, knowledge and professional skills in clinical research nursing and the management of clinical research studies.

You must be registered on Sub-part 1: RN1 or RNA or Sub-part 2: RN2 of the UK NMC Register.
