Job description

The Psychosis Recruitment and Assessment Core at the University of Pittsburgh and UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital is seeking an Clinical Research Liaison and Assessor I to lead and support a diverse portfolio of clinical research studies of psychosis, with a strong emphasis on neuroimaging modalities (MRI, MEG, EEG), sleep research, pharmacological interventions, and mental health treatments. This role is ideal for a highly motivated individual with a strong background in clinical research, and mental health care, who is passionate about advancing care for individuals with serious mental illness (SMI).

This position is grant funded.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and help manage multiple phases of clinical research studies, including protocol development, recruitment, data collection, and regulatory compliance.

  • Collaborate with a range of researchers to support neuroimaging sessions (MRI, MEG, EEG) and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary clinical teams including psychiatrists, therapists, and care coordinators to recruit participants with psychosis for research studies

  • Work closely with clinical neuroscience and psychiatry researchers and data analysts.

  • Conduct clinical assessments and monitor participant safety, particularly in populations with SMI.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with institutional and federal guidelines.

  • Train and supervise junior research staff and trainees.

  • Masters degree (MA, MS, MSW) in Psychology, Social Work, or related field from an accredited institution.

  • Direct clinical experience in Psychology or related field. One year of experience in clinical research coordination, preferably involving neuroimaging and/or mental health populations.

  • Demonstrated experience working with individuals with serious mental illness in clinical or research settings.

  • Strong knowledge of research regulations (e.g., GCP, HIPAA) and IRB processes.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal

  • Act 33 with renewal

  • Act 34

  • Act 34 with renewal

  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
