Job description

A BIT ABOUT SIBEL HEALTH:

With headquarters based in Chicago, Illinois and an international office in Seoul, South Korea, Sibel Health is an award-winning digital health startup with a mission to deliver Better Health Data for All. We were founded out of a Northwestern University Biotechnology lab, with a specific focus on our most vulnerable patients - pregnant persons and babies - where we believe wireless monitoring has the potential to do the most good worldwide. We are seeking mission-driven individuals with a strong sense of purpose who believe that technology can improve the lives of our most vulnerable patients.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

Sibel is offering a one-year Clinical Research Fellowship designed for early-career candidates - including those taking a gap year before medical school - who want hands-on, structured experience in clinical research within the medical device industry. This person will play a key role in internal and external clinical research, working closely with academic collaborators and internal development teams to develop and publish on groundbreaking research topics within the medical device and digital biomarker field.

WHAT YOU WILL BE WORKING ON:
  • Plan and execute clinical trial programs and clinical studies.
  • Prepare and deliver sensor kits for clinical research programs at local sites.
  • Conduct research studies including informed consent collection, application of sensors, and monitoring results.
  • Work closely with internal product development teams for data analysis and reporting of study outcomes.
  • Recruit subjects for clinical studies at various locations.
  • Create advertising or marketing materials to recruit volunteers.
  • Conduct telephone, email, and in-person screening and evaluation for volunteer data collection.
  • Collect data from participants wearing sensors following specific protocols.
  • Lead focus groups to gather information about device usability.
  • Support manuscript preparation.
  • Prepare IRB protocols and other documentation for human subject research.
  • Perform data cleaning, labeling, and analysis.
  • Provide feedback on sensor use, wear, and practical considerations to key stakeholders.
  • Perform outreach and education activities on Sibel products.
  • Provide feedback on software user interface and user experience.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
ABOUT YOU:
  • Bachelor's degree in a life sciences field or related discipline.
  • A passion for wearable technology and interest in medicine or clinical research.
  • A proactive, organized, and systematic critical thinker.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage a wide range of individuals when presenting opportunities for volunteer-based data gathering.
  • Prior clinical research experience is a plus but not required - this program is designed to build that experience.
YOU MAY THRIVE IN THIS ROLE IF:
  • You are planning to attend medical school, PA school, or a graduate health sciences program and want meaningful, applicable experience during a gap year.
  • You have interest or coursework in medical technology, clinical research, or clinical care.
  • You are drawn to medical devices, data science, and the advancement of medical technology.
BENEFITS:
  • Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance.
  • "Take as much time as you need" policy.
  • Simple IRA plan with employer matching.
  • Company sponsored events and lunches.
  • Yearly stipend for professional development.
  • Opportunity to be part of a dedicated and driven team that is here to disrupt and revolutionize wireless monitoring.
