Ideal candidates have a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and some related experience, with strong focus on patient interactions, regulatory knowledge, and teamwork to advance cancer research initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) with up to 2 years directly related work experience or a master's (or equivalency) degree.
  • Prefers ability to interact effectively with patients and team members.
  • Knowledge of Good Clinical Practices, FDA, HIPAA, and IRB regulations.
  • IRB CITI Course completion within six months of hire.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate patient identification, recruitment, and offering enrollment in the Total Cancer Care study.
  • Offer questionnaires to enrolled study participants at consent or follow-up.
  • Maintain information in patient databases and perform data entry.
  • Inform team of protocol deviations and participate in documentation.
  • Assist Total Cancer Care Managers with research and team tasks.
  • Collaborate with Biorepository and Molecular Pathology Shared Resource and investigators for specimen processing.

Responsibilities

The position involves a variety of tasks such as offeringenrollment to patients, coordinating with other team members andthe HCI Biorepository, supporting research interest needs ofinvestigators, entering data, and other research relatedtasks.

The coordinator works under the direction of the Program Managerfor Total Cancer Care, consults with the team on project/studyissues and/or solicits guidance as necessary. S/he/they worksindependently with health care providers and patients andshould be able to wear the PPE necessary for the area wherethey will be working.

Essential Functions
  1. Coordinates and performs responsibilities such as patientidentification, recruitment, and offering enrollment in the TotalCancer Care study.
  2. Offer questionnaires to enrolled study participants regularlyat the time of consent or via follow-up contact.
  3. Maintains information in patient databases and is responsiblefor data entry.
  4. Recognizes and informs study team of protocol deviations andparticipates in documentation of deviations.
  5. Assists the Total Cancer Care Managers with research and teamrelated tasks.
  6. Works closely with the Biorepository and Molecular PathologyShared Resource and investigators and ensures proper collection andprocessing of specimens.
  7. Is responsible to arrange coverage when not present.
  8. Performs other responsibilities as required.

S/he/they prioritizes and helpsoptimize processes needed to achieve study goals. S/he/theyfunctions independently under minimal supervision. S/he/they has anunderstanding of good clinical practice and researchprocesses.

Minimum Qualifications

EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher educationcan be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience(Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related workexperience).

Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) with up to 2 years directly related work experience or a master's (or equivalency) degree.

Preferences

Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate the ability tointeract effectively with patients, with other study team members,and will be able to perform the essential job functions as outlinedin the position description. S/he/they will be organized anddemonstrate excellent communication skills.

Additional Preferences
  • Bachelor's degree in a health science or related field orequivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two yearsof related work experience).
  • Some research experience.
  • Knowledge of Good Clinical Practices, FDA, HIPPA, and IRBregulations.
  • IRB CITI Course completion within six months of hire.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.Demonstrates the potential ability to perform the essentialfunctions of the job as outlined.

Work Schedule Summary: The standard schedule for thisposition is Monday through Friday, during regular business hours,typically from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM or 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.Coordinator may need to be present to meet with scheduled patientsas early as 6:00 am as needed.
