Job Summary:

The Barbara Davis Center (BDC) for Childhood Diabetes at theUniversity of Colorado Denver is a multi-disciplinary diabetescenter affiliated with the University of Colorado, School ofMedicine. The patient population spans the ages 1 to 70 years witheither type 1 or type 2 diabetes. The BDC also serves as a clinicalcenter for TrialNet, an international, multi-center researchorganization with the goal of understanding the pathophysiology oftype 1 diabetes as well as finding ways to prevent type 1 diabetes.Additionally we have many treatment and prevention industrysponsored clinical trials for type 1 diabetes.

This is a full-time Research Science Clinical Science Entry -Intermediate Professional position working on the Prevention Teamat the Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes. The PreventionTeams conducts clinical trials for type 1 diabetes prevention andintervention. This position involves coordinating and runningclinical trials in type 1 diabetes both NIH funded andindependently funded. The person in this position will act as thelead study coordinator on one or more clinical trials and providessupport on numerous other trials.

Jobs in this career family provide direct professional support ofresearch activities. Functions include contracts and grantssolicitation and administration, grant/agreement preparation,review and negotiation, regulatory compliance, sponsorcommunication and post and pre award management, human subjectcompliance, research animal management, research laboratorycoordination and instruction, environmental health and safety,radiation control, hazardous materials use, disposal andtraining.

Professionals at the entry and intermediate level are responsiblefor exercising discretion, analytical skill, personalaccountability and responsibility in a wide range of areasincluding academic, administrative, managerial and student servicesfunctions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying andsharing knowledge directly related to a professional field.

At the entry level, duties are limited in scope and are performedwith guidance and direction from other professionals and areperformed in a training and Development capacity.

At the intermediate level, duties are less limited in scope and areperformed independently with occasional guidance and direction fromother professionals.

Nature of Work:

• Clinical Science Professionals perform clinical researchrelated functions which may include patient-oriented research orresearch conducted with human subjects. Patient-oriented researchincludes mechanisms of human disease, therapeutic interventions,clinical trials, or development of new technologies. ClinicalScience Professionals may also assist with epidemiologic andbehavioral studies and/or outcomes research and health servicesresearch.

Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located inAurora, Colorado.

Entry

  • Substitution : A combination of education and relatedtechnical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substitutedfor a bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

Intermediate

• Bachelor's degree in any field.

• One (1) year clinical research or related experience.
  • Substitution : An advanced degree (Masters or PhD) maybe substituted for experience on a year for year basis if thedegree is in a field of study directly related to the workassignment.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for thisposition has been established as:

• Entry: $49,899 - $66,865
• Intermediate: $54,302 - $72,765

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range ofpossible compensation at the time of posting. This position may beeligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
